Cloth Diaper Update

We have now been using cloth diapers for about 3 1/2 months, and we still LOVE them! In fact, Landon pretty much refuses to use disposables. Benton has only had one blowout ever in cloth diapers (sorry Courtney), and he rarely leaks out of them. They are easy to wash, stuff (Landon stuffs them while we watch TV), store, and use. Seriously, we love them.

Right now, we have a mix of snap and aplix (velcro) BumGenius and Flip diapers. Although we have heard horror stories about the aplix having to be replaced, we still prefer them over snaps. I think we have about 25 diapers total, which works out well for us.

Now that we have started feeding Ben solids, we are using a liner (Kushies) that can simply be placed in the cloth diaper and then flushed. Easy peasy.

I do have a few questions for other cloth diapering moms:
1) What is your washing routine?
2) What kind of detergent do you use?
3) What brands of diapers do you use? Do you like them?
4) Any tips for me?!?!

We have mostly EasyFit diapers, but we have a few FuzziBunz (these have snaps). I like them both A LOT. I think I might like the FuzziBunz a little bit better. They are thinner so Hannah's pants fit a little bit better. I think Hannah likes them a bit better too because everytime we put one on her she says "This diaper soft." They are a little bit softer.

We use Charlie's Soap. We have been using cloth diapers since April and I am just halfway through my second bag.

I wash bettwen 7 and 12 diapers at a time. Once in cold with out detergent. Then I do a hot cycle with one scoop of Charlie's. Some of our diapers are a little bit stained. I read that some kids poo stains more than others. When it was warmer I would hang them outside to dry and the stains faded a bit.

That's all I know. We LOVE them too!!!

Bum Genius is what I use, but I have not really experimented around. I use Melaleuca detergent and I think I have about thirty diapers, I wash every day, and have also noticed if I hang them out to dry the stains fade...We use them less now that the kids are older and laundry is monumental but when baby three gets here, I will be starting the whole cycle again and prob be cloth diapering Paul in preparation for potty training.

I'm still trying to decide whether or not to join the world of cloth diapering. Now would be the time if any. I'm not sure where to start or how to even get my feet wet to make sure I actually like it. I've been using the Melaleuca detergent too lately and I really like it. I feel like it's really hypoallerginic.

P.S. You should post the pictures of Elliott and Benton you took the other day. :)
