Baby Blog: January 31, 2010

Here is my belly progression, with our newest picture at the bottom. I am definitely growing...

11 weeks
14 weeks
16 weeks
19 weeks
22 weeks

Note: Never ask a pregnant woman how far along they are, and follow that by saying "you look really big" or "you must be expecting multiples." Lady, I know I'm not big, and you can't say that anyway. GRRR.

Baby Blog: January 29, 2010

Today we are 22 weeks! We get so excited with each passing week, but we are trying to enjoy our time together (without baby) and not to wish the weeks away. And, time seems to be flying by now. In the first trimester I felt like time was basically standing still, but it's quite the opposite now!

Baby Boy is doing great! We had our 22 week anatomy scan ultrasound on Wednesday, and sweet Baby Boy looked perfect! We are so very grateful for a good report. He had 10 fingers and 10 toes, 4 heart chambers, functional organs, and...drum roll...a huge head! Ha! He gets his huge head from his mommy. :) Baby Boy's head measured in at the 98.46 percentile, which is also what a 24 week fetus should measure at. The rest of sweet Baby Boy measured around our original due date of late May, so his due date should remain June 4, 2010.

We had my parents over on Wednesday night to feel Baby Boy kick and move around. At first he was a little shy, but after a few pieces of chocolate candy he began to move. :) We also surprised my parents by turning on the video of our ultrasound. To say they were excited to see their first grandchild would be an understatement!

More updates soon!

Baby Blog: January 21, 2010

Below is today's email we received from What to Expect regarding Baby Boy's growth and development...

"For Dad: Baby's First Kicks...Sometime between weeks 18 and 22, she'll feel what she may describe as butterflies in her stomach — but oh, baby, it's no butterfly she's feeling. Here's a word you may not have known: "Quickening." Your partner knows it — and she's been waiting for it. "Quickening" and "fetal movement" are obstetrical-speak for baby kicks, as those little arms and legs get big enough to be felt from within. Sometime between weeks 18 and 22, she'll feel what she may describe as butterflies in her stomach — but oh, baby, it's no butterfly she's feeling. At around 21 weeks pregnant, it's the first physical proof positive (besides her bulging belly) that there's a new life inside her. When will you get your kicks? Those movements won't be strong enough to be felt from the outside for another few weeks — but it'll be worth the wait."

When we read the email above this morning, we were cracking up. I have been feeling Baby Boy kick since week 15 and Landon began feeling it week 19 (the first time we even tried...he probably could have felt it earlier). Last night, we decided to try and look for the movements on the outside of my belly, which we hadn't done before...and sure enough we could see them! Baby Boy was going crazy and completely shifting my belly and making huge kicks for us to see. We were so excited and watched him move for almost an hour. We are looking forward to my parents coming over this weekend to watch the "Baby Show." :)

This is such an exciting journey!

Baby Blog: January 13, 2010

We are almost half way to Baby Boy's due date! Here is our 20 week update (a couple days early) and a picture from 19w 2d...

Baby Boy is doing great! He's kicking away and growing fast (well, my belly is growing fast, so I assume he is growing fast too!). I'm slowly gaining my energy back, and I'm so grateful to finally be able to really clean the house and run errands for a change (though Landon's still taking care of almost everything!). Baby Boy was spoiled at Christmas by our family and friends, and we have already assembled everything we received that is needed for his first months. :) We're not excited or anything!

Big news this past week...Landon felt Baby Boy kick!!! We are sure he felt it, and he has now felt it a few times. So, so exciting.

A few things I love to eat right now:
-Applesauce (can I please have it via IV?!)
-Pears
-Black Bean Burritos (tortillas, rice, beans, cheese)
-Crunch Jingles (Crunch candy bars shaped like a bell...I only like the shaped ones...don't ask)
-Bagel Sandwiches (I love you Old School Bagel)
-Grilled Cheese Sandwiches (no butter on the bread though!)
-Green Grapes
-Corn on the Cob
-Sliced Cheese
-Mashed Potatoes
-Any Random Grilled Vegetable

A few things I don't love right now:
-Anything With Butter
-Anything With Garlic
-Anything With Any Other Spice :)
-Looking At Or Preparing Raw Meat
-The Smell of Lucy's Dog Food And Breath (sick!)

Random Things:
-We are still walking everyday...and I'm even increasing the distance. The second trimester is so much better than the first trimester!
-Acid.Reflux.Stinks. But, let me just tell you that trying to save money and buy the off brand of Tums is NOT worth it. Just spend the extra 10 cents for the real thing. :)
-I'm still wearing my regular clothes, though they totally don't fit. Maternity clothes swallow me, even the shirts with ruching on the sides. I've used the belly band a few times this week for my pants and I really like it so far. Hopefully maternity clothes will start to fit soon!
-Landon is going to be such a wonderful dad!
-Landon and I are having so much fun preparing our hearts and home for our little man. We've started reading books and we're even attending a little parenting class at our church. So fun.

Madeleine's Wedding!

Landon and I spent this past weekend celebrating my dear friend Madeleine's marriage to Buck! We love them so much and were so excited to see them married off. Madeleine was the most beautiful bride ever (seriously), at the most beautiful wedding. She was gracious and elegant and perfect. See...

Told you. :) And, she's even more beautiful inside than out.

I wish I would have taken some pictures of their reception...it was simply a dream. There were candles and white flowers everywhere, and every kind of yummy food you can imagine. :) They had an amazing live band and everyone had a great time. Best.reception.ever.

Happy Wedding to Madeleine and Buck!

Happy New Year

We had the most wonderful New Year's celebration with friends from our small group (Galeys...we missed you!) and another sweet couple (glad you came Denise and Jon!)...all who attend our church. We wore our comfy clothes, ate lots of snacks, played board games (boys won BuzzWord again, but girls won Catchphrase), celebrated 3 birthdays, and rang in the New Year together. We couldn't have asked for a better end to 2009 and start to 2010!

Landon and I are so grateful for 2009! What a fun year! We sold the duplex, moved into a new house, and found out we were pregnant with baby boy. We traveled to Winter Park and Riviera Maya. We watched friends get married and friends welcome their own babies into the world. My parents celebrated 30 years of marriage and my grandparents celebrated 60 years of marriage! And, of course, we celebrated 2 wonderful years of marriage...and we fall more in love everyday. What more could we ask for?! :)

We are so very excited to see what 2010 brings! Some of the big things we are looking forward to include baby boy being born and my sister getting married! Yes, that's right, my sister getting married!!! Whitney got engaged on New Year's Day! This year is already off to a great start!

Cleaning Out The House

We have now lived in our new house for almost 7 months, and we are just now starting to feel like the end of unpacking is in sight. I know, I know, 7 month is far too long...I blame it on months of morning sickness.

Anyway, part of our Christmas break agenda was going through EVERYTHING in our house and taking a huge load of unneeded items to Salvation Army. I'd say we succeeded. We filled up my entire SUV with items, and threw away almost a trashcan full of things that we didn't deem quality enough to go to Salvation Army. Below are a few pictures of our big clean out. The first picture is one of Landon's fancy outfits that I found in his stuff. A Plymouth, Massachussetts t-shirt and some short sweatpant shorts. Very nice. :) The other pictures are the back of my very full SUV.

After all this, I think we deserve a relaxing weekend!
