Very Exciting News!

Baby Boy Hubbart is so excited that he is going to have either a new little friend or girlfriend!!! One of my very best friends, Erica, is expecting a sweet baby in August!!! Landon, Baby Boy, and I couldn't be more excited! Join us in praying for a healthy pregnancy and delivery for Erica and Kevin and BabyE (who I think is a boy too!).

Seriously, is there anything better than being pregnant with one of your best friends?!?! They have traveled a long road and we are so happy to be sharing this time with them! YAY!

Baby Blog: February 21, 2010

Can you believe we are 25 weeks pregnant!? We get so much more excited with each passing week. It's amazing how conversations change from whether baby is a boy or girl to things like what Baby Boy will look like or how much he will weigh! At this point, all we know is that we love him and he has my big head. :)

Here is the newest belly picture, taken at 25w 2d...

What I'm eating these days:
-All things fruit (pears, strawberries, applesauce, green grapes, etc)
-Pancakes
-Granola Cereal
-Plain Bagels
-Smoothies
-Chocolate Shakes

Things I am not eating:
-Everything else (acid reflux stinks) :(

Random things that are happening:
-I can no longer button any of my work pants, and I can only button one pair of jeans, so I'm now using the belly band almost every day. I love that little thing!
-If you see me, I am wearing one of about four shirts that fit, so don't make fun of me for wearing the same thing over and over. :) Hopefully some of my other maternity shirts will start fitting soon!
-I can now officially not wear any of my own t-shirts...and I LOVE t-shirts, so this is a problem. I've started digging through Landon's drawers for acceptable t-shirts to wear for the time being.
-Baby Boy is still moving around like crazy!
-Landon and Baby Boy have a new morning routine (as of week 23). Every morning before we get out of bed, Landon asks me if Baby Boy has moved yet. I always say no and tell him that Baby Boy is sleeping. Landon puts his hand on my belly anyway...Baby Boy then kicks his hand. Landon moves his hand to another part of belly...Baby Boy kicks his hand again. They usually repeat this for about 5 or 6 kicks and then we go on with our day. :)
-He has started kicking or head butting or stomping or something on my bladder. I can actually feel a body part push on my bladder, and then I almost pee in my pants. Should be interesting to see what happens with this over the next 15 weeks.

We are so in love with our little man, and we can't wait to see what changes happen in the next few weeks!

Vibrations

This actually happened early this morning at about 2am:

J: wakes up to vibrating sound and hits the alarm clock snooze button. vibrating stops. goes back to sleep.
L: sleeping away.
J: wakes up again to vibrating sound and hits the alarm clock snooze button. vibrating stops. goes back to sleep.
L: sleeping away.
J: wakes up again to vibrating sound and turns the alarm clock off. vibrating stops. goes back to sleep.
L: What in the world are you doing?
J: Trying to figure out what was vibrating. It was my alarm clock. I fixed it.
L: Does your alarm clock vibrate?
J: No, but it was this time. Maybe it's about to blow up or something.
L: Okay.
J: wakes up again to vibrating sound. unplugs the entire alarm clock and throws it into a pile of pillows. goes back to sleep.
L: sleeping away.
J: wakes up again to vibrating sound. check phone...it's not vibrating either. wakes up Landon for help figuring out what is vibrating.
L: Have you checked your emergency pager? Maybe you left it on vibrate.

Duh. Please do not page me with an emergency in the middle of the night. I think I am losing it. Sure enough, I had received a page from the hospital and it took me 30 minutes to figure out that it was my pager going off and not my alarm clock (which, by the way, does not have a vibrate function). Keep in mind that middle of the night pages happen often, so I should have known what was happening immediately.

In spite of this, please trust me with your medical care. I'm completely competent. :)

What's Cooking?

The answer at our house is usually nothing. At least it has been since our lives changed in the fall. I was sick and now I am tired...and cooking an actual meal just doesn't really make it on my list of things to do. Bad wife, I know. :) Note: don't feel too sorry for him, I always cook something...it just might be pancakes or soft tacos or another simple food.

But, I had a little bout of craziness the last few weeks, and I've been cooking quite a bit. Here are a few of the NEW things that I've made...and I recommend them all for a happy husband!

Pioneer Woman's "Marlboro Man's Favorite Sandwich" -but I made it way healthier and with almost no butter. Don't tell Landon, he will never know the difference. :)

Pioneer Woman's "Barbeque Meatballs" -again, I made this with lean ground beef and skim milk. This recipe made enough meatballs for Landon to eat dinner and a few lunches (meatball sandwiches!).

Danielle's "Husband's Delight" -Landon loves everything spaghetti, so he loved this too! It made enough for him to have a few meals, and I think it looked even better after being reheated in the microwave!

Food Network's "Chocolate Peanut Butter No-Bake Cookies" -You can just never go wrong with no-bakes!

Blessings

Please get your sing-song voice ready...Count your blessings, count them one by one, count your blessings see what God has done... Isn't that the first thing that everyone thinks of when they hear the word blessings?! Maybe that is just me. :)

The real reason for this post is that our small group recently started a new book called the "The Good and Beautiful God: Falling in Love with the God Jesus Knows" by James Bryan Smith. We just finished discussing Chapter 3...and our group has loved this book so far! I won't go into too many details about the book itself, but one thing it has us do each week is a "soul-training exercise." We do the assigned exercise each day of the week, and the exercise changes each week. For example, one week we were supposed to get a full nights sleep every night and another week we were supposed to take 5 minutes out of our day and just be silent. To fully understand what I'm talking about, read the book!

Anyway, this week our soul-training exercise has been to count our blessings. Landon and I have loved spending time together each day just counting our blessings! Some are obvious and some are serious and some are silly, but we consider them blessings nonetheless. I really want to encourage everyone to (1) read the book, and (2) count your blessings. Even though counting our blessings as a soul-training exercise assignment is over, Landon and I have decided to become very intentional about counting our blessings. We already made a list last week, but we are now going to continue to add things to our list every night. It is so easy to get caught up in the things that aren't going our way, but counting our blessings reminds us of just how blessed we truly are!

I will leave you with some blessings that Landon and I listed, though there are many, many more on our list (and these are in no particular order):
Truly being best friends with each other
Dr. Pepper (L)
Our church, sunday school class, and small group
A few good TV shows that we enjoy watching together
The baby boy in my belly
Having the opportunity to travel
Our home
Salvation and eternal life
A big, jacuzzi bath tub (J)
Our furry baby Lucy
A safe neighborhood to live in and bring a baby home to
Our health
Our families
Being able to watch my parents 30-year marriage and my grandparents 60-year marriage (J)
Two cars that are in good condition
Stable jobs
Friends that encourage us in our marriage
My silly cousin Kelsey, who makes us laugh all.the.time.
A small group that wears sweats and pajamas (yes, this is actually a big deal to me) :)
Xbox 360 (L)
A big, comfy king-size bed
Long-time friendships that have seen us through many phases of life
Chocolate milkshakes

Baby Blog: February 1, 2010

Landon and I have started on Baby Boy's nursery, though we still have LOTS to do. Here is a little sneak peak of his crib, crib bedding, and the decoration above his crib. We have his dresser (which will also be his changing table), and we just ordered his glider and ottoman...so we are making progress! All of the wood in the nursery is espresso, and his glider and ottoman are the same color as the green stripes in the paintings. We also have some more things to hang on the wall (shelf, name letters, etc), but want to get his glider and ottoman in before we hang them. The nursery is really small, so we have pretty much accounted for every bit of wall space or furniture space already!
