Update

Here is what our house looks like right now... piles and piles of boxes that go a mile high. :) I should probably take a picture to document our moving experience.

The POD arrives on Friday morning for the big move to begin. Unfortunately, a snow storm is also supposed to arrive on Friday. Yes, a snowstorm, and it is almost April. We have done really well with all of our packing though, and I don't think this part of the move is going to be stressful.

We still don't have much news on the house. All that we know is that we are still the highest and best bid. I wish Countrywide would hurry up! This is seriously torture and I'm getting really antsy. Landon is still his usual calm, patient, even-tempered self. Gosh, I am so grateful for him. Despite the torture, we still feel like we are waiting for a reason...so the wait continues for the time being. Hopefully we'll have a final answer soon!

March Madness

Oh March Madness! This is one of Landon's favorite times of the year. Lots and lots and lots of basketball. Jonathan and Landon will probably talk to each other 10 times a day for the next month...with all conversations revolving around basketball.

This year, my family will be competing against each other in a March Madness pool. The name of the pool is "The Golden Egg of Basketball," which is a spin-off of a long-standing family joke. Everyone in my extended family is participating, including my 5 year old cousin, who picked her teams based off of the names that made her giggle. Ha! There was a $5 buy-in, and people can fill out as many brackets as they want. I'm hoping for the grand prize! :)

No News

We are still waiting to hear whether our bid was accepted on the house in Edmond. It has been over a week!!! AHHH! We are ready to know the outcome, but we are also learning patience and know we have been brought to this place for a reason. Hoping and praying that we hear soon!!!

Random

Did you know that Charlie Sheen just named one of his twin sons Bob?! What in the world! I can't even fathom naming your newborn Bob.

Landon cracks me up. We were packing and chatting, and we came up with our "list of people we would like to meet."

Landon's list:
1. Bob Costas (he is completely and totally obsessed)
2. Garth Brooks
3. Travis Pastrana (stunt/dare devil guy)
4. Joe Torre
5. Sigg Hanson (captain of the Norweigen on Deadliest Catch)
Alternate: Tom Hanks

My list:
1. George Strait
2. George Strait
3. George Strait
4. George Strait
5. George Strait
Alternate: George Strait

I think packing makes us delirious.

Waiting Game

The realtor told us today that we might have to wait up to 2 weeks for word on the house (that is the time required for approvals and such since it is being handled by the bank). AHHH! I will go crazy...and I guess I will also learn patience.

Another Update

House hunting is crazy! We are having so much fun though. :) The bid we placed yesterday on the house was not accepted. The other realtor was kind of scummy and he was trying to get us into a bidding war. "Maybe if you bid another thousand dollars you'll get it." That just made Landon and I mad! We were a tiny bit sad that this house didn't work out, because we really liked the house...but we are still very excited about other opportunities!

This afternoon, we decided to look at another house we had been eyeing. It is a newer construction (2007, I think) in Edmond, in the Deer Creek school system. The home is beautiful with all the builder upgrades. :) It is a short sale (right before they go to foreclosure), so we submitted our offer to the bank at 5pm today(the other offer expired at 5pm), and we hope to hear from them by Friday. One fun thing about this house is that it is in a neighborhood right next to Landon's best friend, Jonathan. It is also really close to Crossings!

More updates soon!

An Offer And A POD

We bid on the house this morning! They have until tomorrow at 5pm to accept, counter, or reject. The time for their response is longer than usual because she is elderly and has a few people helping with her estate decisions. We don't think we will get it, but we are crossing our fingers that it works out. If they accept, we would probably close with them on April 17th. We are excited either way...lots of options!

We also secured a POD today. We think it will make moving wonderful! They will deliver the POD to the duplex on Friday, March 27th and we will have it picked up early on March 30th. That means we have 3 days to pack into the POD!! Our duplex closing is on March 31st, and we have to be completely out. :) They then store the POD for us until we are ready to have it delivered to our new place. How convenient is that!? It is fairly reasonable too. And, Landon will be happy to only pack and unpack once, instead of packing a Uhaul at the duplex, unpacking into storage, packing a Uhaul at storage, and unpacking at our house. HA! A POD sounds much better!

More updates to come!

House Hunting

House hunting is going well! We are just so excited to be able to move to a new home and new area. So far, we have seen older ranch style homes (built in the 60s) near Lake Hefner and some new homes in various parts of the city (Mustang, Yukon, Piedmont, Edmond). We feel so blessed to have many options and a home to stay at while we decide on our next move.

We are bidding on a home in our target neighborhood tomorrow morning, but we are pretty sure we won't get it. But, that's okay. The home is in need of a remodel, though they are pricing it like it is remodeled. We are just going to bid what we think it is worth and cross our fingers.

We'll keep you updated!

Good News...

The day I thought would never arrive has finally come! The house was shown yesterday to some buyers who had 2 criteria...they needed to be in a house by the end of the month and they wanted a good fireplace. Luckily, Landon and I are flexible on moving dates (the earlier the better in my opinion) and we have a great fireplace. We have "staked out" in the park for every showing...timing how long people are in the duplex and watching their body language as they leave. The buyers spent over an hour in our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, 1300 square foot duplex. That's a lot of time in a little space! I thought for sure they were going to make an offer, but they told their realtor that although they loved the duplex, they thought the area was a little shady (and they are right). I spent the evening moping and pouting. As Landon and I were praying last night, we prayed specifically for hope and patience in the situation.

Today, we received a call from our realtor at around 2:30pm...she said that we had received an offer! After a couple of counters, the deal was done and the contract was signed. SOLD! I'm so excited that I can't sleep (hence why I'm writing a blog post on a Friday night).

Tomorrow we will looking at a house that we've had our eye on, along with a few others. Hopefully, if all goes well, we will have a contract on another house in the next few days. My parents have also been generous enough to open up their home to us in the time between closings.

We feel so blessed and provided for. God is so good and he has answered our prayer. :)
