Baby Blog: December 27, 2009

Scroll down to December 23, 2009 for a Hidden Baby Blog about finding out the gender of Baby BOY Hubbart! We have finally told our family and closest friends, so now the information can go public. :)

Landon and I had big plans for revealing the gender of Baby Boy Hubbart to our families on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, but the blizzard had other plans for us. So, there was nothing extra exciting about how we told our families the big news. But, everyone was so excited to finally know whether Baby Hubbart is a "he" or a "she." Everything seems a little bit more real now...

Reason For The Season

We just attended our church's Christmas Eve service (on Christmas Eve Eve), and left with such a feeling of gratefulness for our Savior. We just wanted to remind everyone (and ourselves) to make sure and take time to remember the deep meaning to the Christmas season.

Merry Christmas to you!

Hidden Baby Blog: December 23, 2009

Wow, I didn't think I would be writing another Hidden Baby Blog! We had our appointment with Dr. K yesterday and everything went well! Except for the moment he told us we would have to wait until 22 weeks for the anatomy ultrasound! 5 weeks! AHHH! While we know it is best to wait to do the ultrasound later, it is still hard to wait to know whether Baby Hubbart is a boy or a girl (but we would rather know that all it's organs are forming, than know whether it is a boy or a girl...therefore we would wait with smiles on our face). :)

BUT, our friends Hank and Marie (and baby in the belly Addie) stopped by last night, and she mentioned that she thought we could have an ultrasound done at an outside ultrasound facility, as long as we had our doctors permission. Sure enough, I looked into a few and they have "sneak peaks" so that you can see progress and know the gender before a late ultrasound! And, even better, the one close to our house uses the same sonographer as Dr. K! Perfect. We called this morning and they had a cancellation, so we booked our "sneak peak" for 2:00pm.

Guess what Baby Hubbart is... A BOY!

Landon and I both knew the minute that she put the screen up. Baby Boy was not shy and showed us his stuff immediately. And he was SO ACTIVE! I mean all.over.the.place. Except for our favorite moment when he laid out on the amniotic sac with his knees up in the air...and started sucking his thumb. I cried...and I keep crying thinking about it. It was the cutest little moment.

To back track a little bit, I KNEW Baby Hubbart was Baby BOY Hubbart from day one when I first took the pregnancy test. I just knew it. And I would have felt like a bad mom already had it been a girl... :) Landon has wavered between girl and boy throughout the 3 months, but he mostly thought it was a boy as well.

This is a Hidden Baby Blog because no one knows that we had the ultrasound done today, and we aren't telling until our Christmas celebrations with each family. So, we aren't making this public until Sunday night. Keep your eyes out for a blog on telling our family!

And yes, Baby Boy has a name! But, we won't be telling until he is born...so he will just be Baby Boy until then. Sorry to make you all wait!

Baby Blog: December 21, 2009

EDIT: The poll is now fixed! Sorry friends!

Since we are now well into our 16th week, I thought I would post a poll for Baby Hubbart's gender. What do you think...Boy or Girl? Make your guess in the poll on the right side of the blog. We should be finding out really soon...

Baby Blog: December 20, 2009

All continues to be well at the Hubbarts. Below is the newest belly pictures...taken at 16w 1d. I'll stop torturing everyone with my bare belly pictures now that I am showing enough to be seen through clothes. :)

So, I never imagined the "clothes emergency" that I would encounter in this in-between stage of pregnancy. All of my clothes still fit, but my shirts are starting to get a little bit shorter...and it drives me nuts. Maybe to the point of my first pregnancy breakdown. :) I've bought some maternity shirts, but they are still huge. I guess I'm going to just buy a few longer shirts to hold me over for a few weeks until I'm a bit bigger.

Big News: baby is kicking! I started feeling it last week... Yes, that would make me in week 15 still. No one really believes me, but I am 100% sure. :) I thought I was crazy for a few days and didn't even mention anything to Landon! No gas, hunger pains, heartbeat of my own...definitely the baby kicking.

We have our next appointment with Dr. K on Tuesday. We are super excited to hear baby's heartbeat, and we are hoping Dr. takes a peek at baby with the ultrasound machine. We'll see! I did listen to the heartbeat at work last week in some downtime...the sound is so amazing!

Last but definitely not least, my super cute 6 year-old cousin Kelsey made a really funny comment to my mom, and I must make sure it is documented forever. You have to know Miss Kelsey to fully appreciate this comment. Mom asked Kelsey if she was excited to have a new cousin... Kelsey responded by asking who was having a baby... Mom said that Jen and Landon were having a baby... Kelsey responded that "everyone is telling her that, but it doesn't look like there is a baby in Jen's belly, so she doesn't believe it." Ha! She is a riot.

Baby Blog: December 14, 2009

Now that we have entered the second trimester (YAY), we thought we would write a little post to remember the first trimester...

Foods I Loved (or actually could eat):
-Sherbet Ice Cream
-Applesauce
-Bagels
-Fruit Smoothies (milk, apple juice, and strawberries)
-Baked Potato Soup
-Yogurt
-Crackers
-Sliced Pears

Random Things (for us to remember or you to know):
-We signed up for pregnancy updates on a few websites (we did The Bump, What To Expect, and BabyCenter)...there were lots of emails, but we LOVED getting these daily/weekly
-Ask for Zofran Melties when the sickness really sets in...goodbye nausea
-We loved our wait before we told our big news...we know that it is not for everyone, but we enjoyed the time of prayer and excitement and just getting used to the idea that we were PREGNANT
-Hidden Baby Blogs are something we will cherish...we will eventually make all of this into a scrapbook
-Not that this would make a difference in the OB we chose, but we are so glad that we had an ultrasound at every appointment in the first trimester
-So, so grateful for my sweet husband who served me and took care of me
-Baths were one of the few times I felt relief from nausea...LOVE the huge bathtub!
-Make sure and take Prenatal Vitamins after a meal...they made me feel horrible if I didn't
-Slow walks helped with my nausea...there were days that we walked multiple times just to help settle the nausea
-Landon used DVR more than ever... :) I went to bed so early that he had plenty of time of catch up on sports

That's all I can really think of for now...

Christmas Decorations!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!! Yay for Christmas! Landon and I are slowly collecting Christmas decorations for our new home, and we are happy with how everything is looking so far. But, we still have a long way to go. The decorations look kind of blah in pictures, but we think they are festive and homey in real life.

Our front door with our red berry wreath.

The cabinet in our entry way with a couple of decorations.

The mini Nativity set that I LOVE.
A vase full of sparkly ornaments and another berry wreath.
Our Christmas tree! It looks so sad in this picture, but we think it looks good in real life. We had a 6 foot tree until about a week ago, but we were then given this 7.5 foot tree. It looks so much more proportional to our living room and ceiling height! We need to buy more ornaments and a tree topper, but I think it will look really good next year!
Our dining room table decorations. The trees look like mercury glass balls. I.love.them.
The cutest thing of all...a kitchen towel that my sweet grandma embroidered. Isn't it cute!?

We are so excited to celebrate this holiday season with our family and friends! Our next week is already full of holiday parties and fun winter activities, and it only gets busier from here. We hope everyone enjoys this wonderful season!!!

Baby Blog: December 3, 2009

Landon and I have truly been overwhelmed with all the love and support we have received in the past week! We are so grateful to all of you who have gone out of your way to say congratulations, or give us a hug, or call or text or email...the list goes on. Thank you for being excited with us!!!

Baby has received it's first gifts and we must document them in pictures. The first picture was Baby's absolute first.gift.ever. Sent to us by my aunt, uncle, and cousin, who happen to be the biggest OSU fans ever. That makes them a bit more special. :) Baby might have to wear these home from the hospital...Boomer Sooner! The second gift is from the Hodges family. How cute is that little robe?! I love it. Baby might wear it all the time. :) Landon and I have both gifts out in the living room and we have been oohing and aahing every time we walk by.

Our friends have also been spoiling us... The yummy, huge, delicious, perfect cookie was brought by the Galeys to small group. The Smiths also brought celebratory cookies, but I forgot to take a picture. This cookie was the best thing ever. I actually ate so much of it in a 2 day period that I had my first weight gain of pregnancy. Dr. K will be so happy. The last picture is of our first parenting book from the Cartwrights. Lord knows we need it. :) We love reading together though, so we are really excited for our new subject matter and our new book!

How fun is all of that?! Again, thank you so much for making this special time even more special for us! Baby Hubbart is already SO LOVED...and there is nothing that makes us happier!

Up next on the Hubbart blog is a break from the Baby Blog...Christmas decorations...YAY!
