Hidden Baby Blog: September 24, 2009

All is well in Baby Hubb land! We had lab work drawn on Tuesday morning and just got our results back yesterday afternoon. They drew a beta Hcg and progesterone. My beta Hcg looked normal, but my progesterone was a little low. Luckily, low progesterone is an easy fix! Well, relatively easy. :) I had the choice of either daily suppositories (no way) or a weekly IM injections...both done until we are 12 weeks pregnant. I don't mind getting a weekly shot, but Landon isn't loving it so much! He hates needles, and he is the one adminstering the shot. Hahaha!

Picture of "Murse" Landon giving me my weekly shot. :)
Also, they scheduled our first appointment for October 8 at 10am. First we have an ultrasound, then we have an appointment with Dr. K. We should be between 6 and 7 weeks pregnant at the appointment. Can't wait to see itty, bitty Baby Hubb. Yay!!!

Hidden Baby Blog: September 21, 2009

Yep, we're pregnant!!! We are kind of surprised and so, so excited!!!!!!!!!!! Right now, we are 4 weeks pregnant. According to due date calculators, Baby Hubbart is due on May 30, 2010. Everybody mark your calendars. :)

Yes, I took 5 pregancy tests. I won't bore (or gross you out) with all the details, but finding out we were pregnant was random and funny. We went to a get together at our friends house to celebrate their baby-in-the-belly Addie. On our way home, I started feeling a little nauseated. Hmmm. I took the pregnancy test and thought it was a positive result, but had already thrown away the box and didn't know whether the positive result was a line or a plus sign. Haha. The next tests were varying iffy and negative results....I took the last test after waiting a while and it was an obvious positive. Definitely pregnant!

Landon's a Dad! He has been so excited and supportive! He is really amazed by the fact that Baby is only the size of a poppyseed.

The first belly pic. We thought we would take a picture of my belly when it was still small and skinny. Things will be changing fast! On a random note, I keep having the taste of metal in my mouth...gross.

Baby Lucy already looks nervous about her new sibling. Landon is super excited that his childhood dog will get to meet Baby Hubbart!

We can't wait to share the next 252 days with you!! Yay Baby Hubbart!!!

Restaurant Review: Mamasitas

Last week, Landon and I tried our first gift certificate at Mamasitas. It was a rainy day and we were both in the mood for some queso! For those unfamiliar with Mamasitas, it is located just west of Western on 63rd. I've driven by it a million times, and I've always wanted to go there, but never have.

We really enjoyed our meal. We ordered queso for an appetizer, and our entrees were fajitas (pork for Landon, chicken for me). All of our food was really good and we enjoyed the atmosphere. But, it wasn't quite as tasty as Ted's or Poblano, so I'm not sure we'll go back unless we use another gift certificate!

I'm not sure when we'll have time to use our next gift certificate, but we are excited to try more new restaurants!

Game Day

My Dad invited us to the OU-Idaho State football game on Saturday. And this was the radar on my little Blackberry. Lots of storms...all night.

By the time we walked from our car to the tailgate, we were soaking wet. But the yummy food made it all better. Can you tell by the food-in-the-cheeks smile that Landon gave me?!

Once we got to the game we found a stadium full of poncho-wearing crazy Sooner fans! You can't tell in this picture, but it was pouring! And it rained the whole game!!!

The men in my life didn't seem to mind that is was raining. Not at all. :) I was living it up in my little poncho tent at this time...warm and day. In this picture is Landon, David (Dad's company's client from Australia), and Dad.

See, I told you Landon didn't mind. He looked quite happy to be at the rainy game.

At half-time we had to give our poncho's a little break. They were getting heavy from all the pooling rain. Dad looking cute and sumo-wrestler-ish in his OU poncho.

Landon looking very cute and VERY sumo-wrestler-ish in his poncho.

And here I am, just trying to survive the game and have fun. :) And it worked.
And the Sooners won! The score was a whole lot to zero!!! Boomer Sooner!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dad, thank you so much for taking us to the game and to Old Chicago after. We had such a fun night! And, what a great memory. :)

Restaurant Review

So, Landon and I bought gift certificates for seven different area restaurants for a really good deal. We've been to some of them, but not others. We are ridiculously excited for our little restaurant adventure!!

The seven restaurants:
1. Cafe Pranzo
2. Galileos
3. 1492
4. Mamasitas
5. Chicas
6. Deep Deuce
7. Dan O'Briens

Pretty much, we can both eat whatever we want, and we will pay $11 total. We got $25 gift certificates to each restaurant... and we only paid $1 for each gift certificate. There is a minimum restaurant order of $35, which includes food, non-alcoholic drinks, and gratuity. Hence the $11 total. Hope that makes sense...

We'll do a review of the restaurants as we use the gift certificates!

Nines

Since today is 09.09.09, we thought a random list of nines was in order for the day.
  1. We both love rain, thunderstorms, snow, etc. We can sit and watch Gary England (and listen to Val Castor) for hours.
  2. Boomer Sooner. We are so sad about the game last Saturday.
  3. On that note, how can PPV charge $40 for a football game. And a crappy one at that. OU vs Idaho State for $40. Even these devoted Sooner fans will trade the TV for the radio for this game.
  4. Even though his hair is buzzed, Landon gets really bad bedhead in the mornings. It cracks me up in the mornings.
  5. Landon says that when I say "I love you," it sounds like "I nove nou." He makes fun of me for this every single day. :)
  6. Everyday, we talk about how grateful we are for our new home. It is seriously perfect for us. One thing we love is driving by horses, cows, ponds, etc on our way home. We live so close to the city, but those last couple of miles feel like country.
  7. We feel like we took the vacation of a lifetime when we went to Alaska.
  8. Babydog Lucy is going through some "behavior modification" right now. She tries to lick everything, and I think it is disgusting. Landon might think I am overreacting.
  9. Neither of us really like the number 9. Landon's favorite number is 7, and Jen's favorite number is 13.

Boomer Sooner!

Guess what time of year it is... Football season!!! We are so excited for the start of the college football season tonight and for the Sooner's first game on Saturday. Make sure and wear your Crimson this weekend!

We will leave you with a little song...

Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, Boomer Sooner, OK U! I was Sooner born and Sooner bred and when I die I'm Sooner dead! Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma, Rah Oklahoma, OK U!

And another...

O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A--our chant rolls on and on! Thousands strong join heart and song in alma mater's praise: of campus beautiful by day and night, of colors proudly gleaming red and white 'neath a western sky. OU's chant will never die. Live on University!

Zoo

We went to the zoo with the Small family on Saturday. It's been at least 10 years since either of us had been, and we had so much fun. The weather was perfect, and the girls were really cute to watch.

Here is a picture of Landon and the giraffes. We learned that giraffes have high blood pressure. Interesting fact!
Jen and the Small family watching the giant tortoise. No one believes me, but I saw a tortoise about this size crawling across the road by our house. Believe me, it really happened. Sweet Jasmine watching the bear feeding.
Savanna loved the camera. She kept smiling everytime we go the camera out. So cute.

Landon and I were totally oddballs for not having children or a stroller. :) I think we saw one other couple that were there without kids. It was definitely a great way to spend a beautiful Saturday though!
