March Madness: Weekend #2

We enjoyed watching March Madness again this weekend! This tournament has seriously been crazy and so much fun to watch. Here are our bracket updates:

In the Golden Egg of Basketball family tournament, my mom is still in the lead. Her bracket has been the best by far. However, Baby Boy is the only person (fetus) with a potential championship team (Duke). It looks like Baby Boy will win the family tournament if Duke wins the national championship...otherwise, my mom will be the winner! As of Sunday night, Landon is in 2nd place and I am in 6th place.

In our small group tournament...drum roll...it looks like I am going to be the winner!!! I've never won a March Madness tournament, so I'm pretty excited. Landon is in 2nd place and only one point behind me. :)

In Landon's big money UPS bracket, he is doing really well and currently sitting in 6th place. The prize money is given to 1-4th place and then last place. It looks like he will probably finish just out of the money, but we'll see!

Another Victory!

***If you haven't seen the 3D/4D ultrasound pictures...scroll down to the previous post!!!***

This time I beat CVS! :) Yay! I think this deal finding could be addicting.

Guess how much all of this was?! My total was $8.60 for everything. Yes, that is Cetaphil lotion...usually expensive...and much needed for my itchy big belly. And, yes, there are 6 bags of candy in that pile...for Easter and my hungry belly. :)

The explanation:
Cetaphil Lotion-$9.99
Cetaphil Lotion-$4.99 (Cetaphil products were "buy one, get one 50% off"...this is usually $9.99)
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups-$2.00
Reese's Peanut Butter Cups-$2.00
Hershey's Cookies n Creme Eggs-$1.50
Hershey's Cookies n Creme Eggs-$1.50
Hershey's Kisses-$2.00
Hershey's Kisses -$2.00

The coupons/deals:
$5 off any one Cetaphil product
$5 off any one Cetaphil product
$2 off any 3 bags of Hershey's Easter candy
$2 off any 3 bags of Hershey's Easter candy
Coupon total: $14

The math... $25.98-$14 (coupons)=$11.98 (should have been my total)

Now, I only paid $8.60, so there was some error by the cashier on the Cetaphil (he basically gave them to me for free). :) I don't want to do the math and figure out what happened...instead I will bask in my good deals and enjoy March Madness.

Baby Blog: March 27, 2010

We had our 3D/4D ultrasound today! Sweet Baby Boy was so cute and we enjoyed the opportunity to see him again on ultrasound. I never think that babies actually look like their 3D/4D ultrasound images, but we will have to see once he arrives...

Isn't he just perfect?! :) One of the reasons we did the ultrasound was as a "gift" of sorts to our families, for being so supportive and wonderful. We took them to the ultrasound and then had lunch at our house after. I meant to take pictures, but totally didn't think about it until after they all left. Boo. Landon and I enjoyed the day so much, and we think everyone else did too. Baby Boy is very loved!

On another note, I have finally entered the world of maternity jeans. My other jeans still fit with the belly band, but I thought it might be time to invest in at least one pair of maternity jeans. I HATE the over-the-belly maternity thing, so I bought the under belly jeans...and I love them.

March Madness: Weekend #1

March Madness: Weekend #1 was a success! At least successful for us in that we spent the entire weekend relaxing. Can you tell?! Landon is looking very relaxed in this picture. He cracks me up. Love him.

My flash woke him up, and his first comment was "you better not post these on the blog." Sorry love! PS-Who needs to shave their face during March Madness? Apparently Landon does not! :)

Does anyone's bracket still look reasonable? Ours.are.horrible. I'm not even sure where to start...maybe Kansas. Then Villanova, then Georgetown...the list goes on. We have had so much fun watching the games, updating our brackets with the wins and loses, trash talking each other and our families and friends, and snuggling.

Right now, the Golden Egg of Basketball family bracket leader is my mom. She is doing pretty well despite the big losses. I am in 13th place, Landon is in 3rd place, and Baby Boy is in 18th place (last). Landon and I both picked Kansas to win, so we are pretty much out of the race in the long run, but Baby Boy picked Duke to win...maybe he has a chance.

In our small group bracket, we aren't doing great, but we are hanging in there. :)

Landon also participates in a bracket (we call it the big money bracket) with a bunch of people he used to work with at UPS. He is currently in 10th place, which is actually REALLY good.

Love March Madness! And, we are both looking forward to next weekend!!

Victory

I win. I beat Walgreens today. You know I'm proud when I actually post a picture of female products (I know, I know...but I am about to have a baby, people). :)

How much would you guess that I spent on all of this?!

The correct answer is $9.02. TOTAL. For everything. :)

Let me explain...

This is what I bought along with their regular prices:
Huggies Little Snugglers (Newborn-36 diapers)- $8.99
Huggies Little Snugglers (Newborn-36 diapers)- $8.99
Kotex Female Products- $2.99
Nestle Crunch Eggs- $2.50
Nestle Crunch Eggs- $2.50
Total: $25.97 + $2.05 (tax)= $28.02 <----Should have been my total

These are the coupons I used:
$3 off any one Huggies diaper (manufacturer coupon)
$3 off any one Huggies diaper (manufacturer coupon)
$2 off Huggies diapers when you buy two (some random sticker on the side of the diapers)
$1 off any one Kotex product (manufacturer coupon)
$1 off Nestle Eggs when you buy two (manufacturer coupon)
$1 off Nestle Eggs when you buy two (Walgreens coupon)
Coupon Total: $11

I also had $8 in Register Rewards left over from a purchase last week. Basically, last week I bought two tubes of toothpaste that were on sale and that I had coupons for...so they would have been free anyway with the sale and coupons...but they then gave me $4 in Register Rewards for each tube of toothpaste. So, they just straight up gave me $8 last week!
RR Total: $8

Do the math... $28.02-$11 (coupons)-$8 (RR)=$9.02

See, I beat Walgreens!

Now, couponing is not something that I really care about, or that is necessary for us to stay on our budget...it is something that I think is fun. I think I consider it a challenge or competition! I told Landon that I think I might take a long break since I was so successful today...and since I won. I'm not competitive or anything. :)

Baby Blog: March 21, 2010

Here is the newest belly picture taken at 29w 2d... There are a few "revealing" belly pictures below this one, so don't scroll down if you don't want to see my bare belly!

Medical field friends, do you notice that my linea nigra is crooked? Weird.

All is well at the Hubbart house, and not much has really changed...still eating the same things, wearing the same things, Baby Boy is doing the same things, etc. Maybe next time I'll have a more exciting update! We continue to be so very grateful for each day that he is healthy and growing in my belly.

Next Saturday is Baby Boy's big 3D/4D ultrasound debut! Both families will be there for the event, and we are then having lunch together after. We are so excited to see Baby Boy again on ultrasound!!

I should also have some updated nursery pictures to post soon. We now have his glider/rocker and ottoman, and we have started to hang things on the walls and put things in their place.

Thanks for all of your support as we travel this exciting journey!

Bracketology

My extended family has a tradition of competing in a March Madness bracket tournament every year...and it's that time again! There is a $5 buy-in for each bracket filled out, and winner takes all. Last year, my grandma only filled out half the bracket on accident and my 6 year old cousin Kelsey completed her bracket by giggling at the team/mascot/etc that she thought was funniest...and they both almost beat me. With that being said, Landon and I think it is time for Baby Boy to enter his first bracket in the family tournament (also known as "The Golden Egg of Basketball"). He will be using his $5 allowance for the buy-in, and any winnings will go straight to his piggy bank! He actually has a decent chance.

_ _ _ _ _ _ Hubbart would like everyone to know how he picked his bracket...
1.) If there is a blue team, they must advance.
2.) If there are two blue teams playing each other, the one with the highest seed advances.
3.) If there are no blue teams, the highest seed advances.
4.) If two blue teams from different brackets and the same seeds meet, then the team closest to the first letter of _ _ _ _ _ _'s name will advance.

Very scientific. :) And we can't tell his picks until Thursday, just in case someone were to try to steal his good picks...

Landon and I haven't filled out our brackets yet, but we are both hoping for a better finish than last year! Let's just say we didn't do so well. :)

Note: The Golden Egg of Basketball got it's name many years ago when we took a family vacation to Tahiti. It's a long story, but the "Golden Egg" is actually a coconut spray painted gold. :) It is the grand prize for every competition in our family. The "Golden Egg" also comes around every Easter, when it is the grand prize egg in the family Easter Egg hunt.

As you can see, we are growing!!! You may also see that I need a haircut. :)
